grab a coffee and study with me

wow. talk about a few weeks months off from this study! so i'm back.

P31:24-25 She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

i'm back to reviewing with the study bible this time.

making linen garments and sashes, which she sells to the merchant, indicates skill in creating clothing of beauty and value. such activity exemplifies a high degree of entrepreneurial skill and responsibility in making financial decisions and undertaking commercial activity. // strength and dignity are so much a part of her character and conduct that they seem to be almost like her clothing. she laughs at the future, in contrast with being worried or fearful about it.

so there goes my theory. i was going to say that she is not idle with her time. that making linen garments and selling them is not just a means of making money to support her family, it's about her being active in her community and finding something to do with her time. but i'm wrong. or am i...? anyways.

one of my favorite lines of all i've studied so far, though, is verse 25. strength and dignity are her clothing... what a wonderful way to put it. we all care about what we wear. we wear things to impress our friends, our husbands. we try to appear athletic, or professional, or casual. you can tell a lot about a person by the way she dresses. today, for example, i wore yoga capris, a tank top, and a zip-up hoodie. casual. almost sporty. also known as "i didn't want to spend the time getting ready today because i change into scrubs as soon as i get to work". what else am i wearing? cynicism? fear? people can see those things just as much as they can see your clothes. my hope is that people see me wearing traits like strength, dignity, honor, submission, love, loyalty.

it's a long story...

...and this is just the beginning.

do not expect this blog to change into an adoption blog. or an infertility blog. and don't be surprised if it does for a while. after all, this is my space. and this is how i'm going to get through some of this. it's going to be a long journey, and it's going to be hard. one thing you CAN expect from this blog is a little more scripture, as i'm trying to immerse myself in it and remember some basic truths found there.

i hope you'll stick around through this. i promise to explain more as i feel led to. i'll give just enough of the back story, and i hope you'll walk through the rest of it with us. feel free to contact me off of this blog if you want more detailed answers than i'm providing on here.

love you all and appreciate your support. thanks for being patient with us.

without you,
i'd be doing everything just like i'm doing now.
just being honest.

thank you for listening to my rants

for a whole 100 posts.

*this post is a joke. in case you don't get it. i just thought it would be fun to post a goof for my 100th-- yes, that's right-- post.

something beautiful

so excited!! i saw that my dear friend's mother (whom i also consider a friend) was stuck in a sewing rut. so i sent her a link to some mug rugs, because i'd been dreaming about owning one FOREVER. she was sweet enough to make me not one, but two (!) mug rugs! you can't  tell by these photos, but the even did some free motion quilting for my name and the squiggles and other cute little additions. i love the smaller one the best, because it is the perfect size to stick a bag of tea in the pocket, fold up, and take with me in my purse!

i even used it last night while i watched some late-night tv. just some devils-food cookies and a cup of herbal tea and me.
